Flash Websites - When Good Flash Goes Bad

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

I stumbled on this page from Web Pages that Suck - by Vincent Flanders.

It reads…

Unnecessary Flash

Flash is a tool and like any tool it can be misused if it’s used incorrectly. If you’re cutting down a tree for firewood, a chainsaw is a good tool for the job. If you’re trying to taper the leg of a table, a chainsaw is not the right woodworking tool.

Bad Web Design - Worst Website?

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

over-the-topFrom time to time, I like to share with you some websites I feel have not been constructed properly, by either displaying far too many images, animated gifs, flash, high contrast colours, poor text etc.

The reason for displaying such examples is to hopefully show people what to avoid when designing your own website.

Website Grade Badge: 97

Get your website graded. I think this site is convenient quick and very helpful for those of you who need something simple to understand.

Ok. If I see another website built using Sitecube, I will scream!!

Here are just some reasons why you’re better off leaving the designing to us professionals:

  2. Your website is not unique and lacks personality
  3. First Impressions count. If you set a bad first impression, you’re going to have a hard time asking viewers to return!
  4. Your image, your brand.. matters. Get it right, and you’ll profit. Get it wrong and may end up distrusting the web.

Why Your Business Needs A Website

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

The first and foremost answer is: To establish a presence. Close to 500 million people world-wide have access to the World Wide Web. No matter what your business is you can’t ignore 500 million people. Even if you just conduct business within your community, you want to let people in that community know that you are interested in serving them in any way possible. If you don’t, your competitors will.
