What were they thinking?

May 9th, 2009

If there ever was a site that was not about meeting their customers’ needs, it had to be the Association of International Glaucoma Societies.

They’ve “fixed” the site, but here is a high quality video catching them in the act. The YouTube version is below.

Sitecube Website Builder - Please don’t

May 9th, 2009

Ok. If I see another website built using Sitecube, I will scream!!

Here are just some reasons why you’re better off leaving the designing to us professionals:

  1. Your website will resemble many other websites who use the same website builder tool as you.
  2. Your website is not unique and lacks personality
  3. First Impressions count. If you set a bad first impression, you’re going to have a hard time asking viewers to return!

What is DPI?

May 9th, 2009

Often clients ask me “what is 300dpi?”

I’ve had to explain this to them on numerous occasions. However I felt it was better to place a better explanation on here. WiseGeek explains this far better than I can. So here it is:

DPI (dots per inch) is a measurement of printer resolution, though it is commonly applied, somewhat inappropriately, to monitors, scanners and even digital cameras. More »

Heck, some of them probably have inboxes filled with strange messages from some girl named “Leota” who wants you to visit her sexy singles website.

Is There Such a Thing as a Safe Web Browser?

May 9th, 2009

Stan Schroeder writes an article on Mashable, so I thought to share it here:

Do you remember how, a couple of years ago, you could tell someone who was clueless about computers to simply switch from Internet Explorer (Internet Explorer reviews) to Firefox (Firefox reviews), and that action alone would fix 90% of all their security problems?

This hasn’t been true for a while now, unfortunately. The fact that Internet Explorer is still the most widely used browser out there, which makes it the biggest target, doesn’t mean that malicious hackers aren’t exploiting security vulnerabilities on other browser platforms. More »

No matter what your business is you can’t ignore 500 million people. Even if you just conduct business within your community, you want to let people in that community know that you are interested in serving them in any way possible. If you don’t, your competitors will.
